I’m up to my eyeballs in bright orange cotton,
I still haven’t eaten, the cooking’s forgotten.
I might grab a sandwich or maybe some toast.
(It won’t do to turn up at the launch as a ghost)
The dusting needs doing, the dog’s after walking,
The phone keeps on ringing and people keep talking.
My friends think I’m mental – I don’t disagree
Another eight days, after that I’ll be free…
Well not free exactly, ‘cause that’s where it starts
Where the School becomes One with the sum of its parts.
When the first drama starts to a rumble of thunder
Will we have any hair left, I’m starting to wonder?
I’m not joking, it’s madness, both ends of the land
As we finally gather the threads in one hand,
My magnificent partner in crime holds them tight
As I stay up sewing them half of the night.
So I’ll finish the cotton and move on to silk
(I’ll have a black coffee, the Dog had the milk)
But don’t think for a moment that I am complaining,
In fact I have difficulty in restraining
The wild whoops of jubilant laughter and glee…
There is nowhere on earth now that I’d rather be.

Leave the tension, joy, and nervousness that this poem evokes. A swirling mix of opposing emotions. Good luck. Positive energy sent your way. 🙂

I’ll see what odd flavors my mom has. 😉 I think we have a chocolate macaroon and a caramel flavor.

My mom has a Keurig coffee maker that she won in a raffle. Filled a cabinet with K-cups of various flavors.

I’ve never really tried flavoured coffee. I think I would probably just settle for an intravenous delivery of espresso at present 🙂

I’m not much of a coffee drinker in general. I take it in severe emergencies, but most times it makes me sleepy.

It certainly doesn’t keep me awake.. no matter how much I drink 🙂

Me either! Coffee makes me sleepy.

Sleep is fairly low on the agenda at present anyway 😉 But coffee seems to have little effect either way. A nice herbal tisane before bed, that’s different..

I’m reading this immediately after reading your post on Saying Yes. This all sounds so exciting, what sort of school, where – I’m filled with curiosity, not only am I a writer but a teacher as well. Forgive me if you’ve answered all these questions elsewhere, I’ve just started here – just point me in the right direction for the answers 🙂
