Comfort zone

I view the creation with pride and desire,

I’d need a stepladder were it any higher;

The bed now comes up to my waist, it is true,

But the best thing about it? The mattress is new.

*

It has springs that are springy with none of them squeaking

And none that stick in to make sleepers start shrieking.

There is nothing to dig in the small of your back

When exhausted at bedtime you head for the sack.

*

It’s soft and it’s squishy, yet firm and supportive…

Its predecessor had made slumber abortive…

I’d wake in the night with a groan and an ouch

Then I’d pick up a blanket and head for the couch.

*

I wrestled the ancient one off of the bed,

Manhandled the new one back on there instead…

It’s big as an ocean, it’s vast and amazing…

It’s silent and welcoming, perfect for lazing.

*

I’ve not had a bed quite so comfy before

And I doubt that I’ll want to get up any more.

A prospect of heaven and slumber and bliss

So… see you next summer, I’m staying in this  🙂

P.S. Don’t look under the bed… I’m still short of bookcases 🙂

    Oh it looks amazing Sue!
Reminds me of how I felt last year when we got our new bed!
The previous one had a broken frame, and a rather old mattress.
The new one so high that when I sat, my feet didn’t touch the ground. I felt like a kid on their parents big bed!!!
