Connie gets angry and finds another way to thwart the dreaded new dashboard…
For many, you can still simply hover over ‘My Sites’ top left of the screen, click WP Admin, hover over Posts then click Add New.
WordPress people…you have pissed me off.
For a year now you have been trying to shove this new, less-than-useful dashboard down my throat, and for that same year, I have refused to use it. You allowed me the option to stay with the expanded version that played to my needs, and so I didn’t complain.
Today, however, you cut off my simple access to the old, better-for-my-purposes dashboard, and forced me to hunt for a way to get back to it. So rather than the post I had intended, we are going to discuss how a determined blogger can get around your arbitrary decision.
I do not post my blogs from a cell phone. For those people who do, I am sure the bland wall of white fog that is the new default dashboard is fine, but for me it is NOT USEFUL.
First of all, the writing is pale…

I agreed with Connie on her site. I, too, go to WPAdmin under “My Sites” to access the old screens. Wonder how long it will take them to discover our tracks and close that option! I was promised in an email exchange that the old sites would remain available.
Let’s hope some of these discussions get back to them.

There are enough complaints floating around that they cannot be unaware. Plenty of forum threads too… but they are the giants, we just the little people…who help pay their wages, incidentally…

Thank you for the reblog, Sue. I think accessibility sometimes depends on the theme you are using. I use Pilcrow, an oldie that is useful for my purposes.

Mine’s an oldie too, Connie…obsolete in fact, but it works and you can find stuff!

Yes! Thank you for putting it so eloquently! I found my favourite tools gone and left with the supposed better tool. Not nearly as good, more emperor’s new clothes 😫

Thanks for the tip. And, I’d like to know who created or felt we needed this crappy new blog posting method in the first place, obviously, he/she is not a WordPress blogger. I hate it and always revert back to my old ways. Why change it anyways, and I was told by admin that they can’t revert back now. Why?

I imagine far too much has been invested in the new ‘improved’ system that makes WP more mobile friendly, which seems to be the goal.

Just a great big thank you, I hate the new way, when it dissipate yesterday, I nearly did think about calling it a day, but hopefully not now 🙂

Well, my followers have noted my scheduled posts foe as late as January 24th all arrived within a few hours! All the time to not have double or triple stacked posts thwarted! Yikes, I have just been told by a dear frirnd, “At least they weren’t lost or deleted.” WP is a pain in the neck!”

I very much agree with all this, Sue – the new dashboard is simply not an option. Adrian
