Like Old Mother Hubbard my cupboard is bare;
The fridge is the same, there is nothing in there.
No turkey is lurking, the fruit cake is done,
And as for mince pies there is not even one.
The dog ate the leftovers, seconds and thirds,
And everything else was put out for the birds.
Now all that remains is the salad and cheese
(And the dog has her paw in the air saying ‘please’).
My grumbling stomach will have to be quiet,
It’s now after Christmas… and I’m on a diet.

Love it. I gained the mandatory 3 lbs this holiday season. It was worth every ounce !! ☺

I did myself a favour and threw out the scales long ago. As long as my clothes fit, I’m none too bad… trouble is, half of them stretch to fit 😉

Great fun post! Now need to lose about 3 lbs. But it was worth it! Did Ani gain anything?

Did Ani gain anything?? Half a turkey for starters 😉 And she is looking a little chunky, but I think that is all the rain and mud shortening her walks 🙂

I like this from Sue Vincent. A witty start to 2016 and it deserves a reblog.
I’m also on a diet – the 5:2 fast diet. It is supposed to help the body in general, as well as shifting the fat! Can anything help my body? Watch this space.

Good luck with the diet Sue! I am still struggling with the overflow of chocolate gifts that children tend to bestow upon us teachers at Christmas!!!!!

Ah, thankfully I only got the one box and a fair bit of help disposing of it 😉

You were lucky! I did much giving away, but there was still stuff left over! It’s the sweet stuff that lingers as I don’t like the children to eat too much, and Hubby Dearest is more a savoury snacker… so guess who ends up nibbling far too much…?

I’m more of a cheese fan myself…especially if it comes with a nice slice of Christmas cake 😉

See, I love sweet, but then I need a little savoury to balance it… then a little sweet to make my taste buds happy… so the cycle continues, and so my waist slowly expands…!

I really have to cut back, too. Ten years ago I went on a ‘half ration’ diet, eating only half of what I would normally eat, but denying myself nothing, even the occasional sweet. I was very hungry by meal times, but I dropped 15 pounds in 3 weeks! And it stayed off as I ate more sensibly. I should probably try that again.

I eat little to begin with, so I’d be on bird rations… 😉
