January blues

Like Old Mother Hubbard my cupboard is bare;
The fridge is the same, there is nothing in there.
No turkey is lurking, the fruit cake is done,
And as for mince pies there is not even one.
The dog ate the leftovers, seconds and thirds,
And everything else was put out for the birds.
Now all that remains is the salad and cheese
(And the dog has her paw in the air saying ‘please’).
My grumbling stomach will have to be quiet,
It’s now after Christmas… and I’m on a diet.

    I like this from Sue Vincent. A witty start to 2016 and it deserves a reblog.
    I’m also on a diet – the 5:2 fast diet. It is supposed to help the body in general, as well as shifting the fat! Can anything help my body? Watch this space.

    Wish someone would finish off our Christmas cake. First time I’ve made one in years – now I know why – it becomes an Easter cake.Sigh!

    I really have to cut back, too. Ten years ago I went on a ‘half ration’ diet, eating only half of what I would normally eat, but denying myself nothing, even the occasional sweet. I was very hungry by meal times, but I dropped 15 pounds in 3 weeks! And it stayed off as I ate more sensibly. I should probably try that again.

    Love, love, love your poem! And, isn’t that the truth! I only have to think of food and the waistline starts expanding. If we band together, we can do it!
