2015 in review

It’s that time again, when WordPress does its thing and we agonise over whether to share or not to share the stats report. I’ve never quite worked out if it is helpful to do so. One thing I do know is that there will always be blogs with both more and less traffic/followers/views… some who seem to hit a spot and capture an audience while others put out the highest quality and are seldom stumbled upon.

There are better reasons for blogging than the stats.

One of the delights for me this year has been exploring and finding some of those … new, or unknown to me until now…people like Tallis Steelyard, Bunkaryudo and so many others. Another has been the familiar comfort of sitting down with bloggers who are now old friends, sharing the little joys and the greater sorrows and knowing that the community here is worth more than the most scintillating stats.

This year I was fortunate to meet a number of fellow bloggers in person at the Bloggers Bash… people who are just as warm and friendly in person as they are on the page.

This year too I have seen the community achieve magnificent things when it… you… got behind my son and his trike and cheered him onwards with such enthusiasm that he is now busy writing his own story.

We have, as a community, shared laughter and tears, made each other think, taught and learned from each other.

It’s not a bad way to spend a year. Thank you for sharing it with me 🙂

Here’s an excerpt:

The Louvre Museum has 8.5 million visitors per year. This blog was viewed about 110,000 times in 2015. If it were an exhibit at the Louvre Museum, it would take about 5 days for that many people to see it.

Well I always wanted to get round the Louvre without the crowds so if I go on one of the 5 days everyone is visiting you instead.. what a productive year Sue and one I’ve enjoyed being in the crowds visiting your word paintings. Looking forward to what you have in store for 2016. Happy new year

  8. Happy New Year! Think I lost my WordPress yearly review. I hit public on it, but then lost the Internet and it was gone. Oh well. Enjoy the end of 2015.

  12. Here’s to a banner year in 2016 Sue! I’m not even sure if I read my stats report, I think I did but have been so busy I forgot what it said. Though I tend to fixate on ‘numbers’ I’m getting to the point where I don’t care. Or, that’s what I tell myself. 😉

  15. Great results! Congratulations! Seems like everybody but li’l ole Wolfie’s got theirs 😉 I know I haven’t posted much this year – circumstances not lack of interest, but I can’t find them anywhere…not even in the deleted folder where all new emails head for without my consent! It would appear W/P are on hol’s till the 4th so maybe they haven’t got far enough down the pile to produce any for Wolfie yet…or maybe they aren’t going to bother!!! That wouldn’t be a good idea W/P…do you hear me??!!
Happy New Year btw!!! Have a great one 🙂

Thanks, Wolfie… seems a bit odd you haven’t had them, though mine were very late one year too.
      Happy new year 🙂

      • No danger of it happening to your good self lol but I’ve seen it before when people don’t produce enough posts and there’s not much activity on their blog for them to create any meaningful review with the stat’s. Understandable but I didn’t think I was quite that bad last year!! That said my lack of participation shows in the stat’s for the whole year that are the lowest ever bar the very first year on W.P. Shameful! Get your blogging act together Wolfie!!! 😉 Happy New Year to you 🙂

      • Found it! At least I hunted it down via the 2014 email…changed 2014 to 2015 in the URL and hit go…lo the 2015 in review report! Result! Quick comparison to 2014 showed it really is a new one…though the viewings for that year would have been much better to have in 2015…but who really cares anyway lol 😉 I was interested in which countries would come out on top visiting wise 🙂

Congrats on your 2015 stats, Sue. You are so right about reasons to blog. The best reason of all is the sense of community with people who support and encourage one another, share laughter and tears, and develop beautiful friendships with those we probably would never have “met” otherwise. Happy New Year! May 2016 shine ever brighter. Hugs, my friend.
