Thank you so much for this beautiful haiku and photograph. I told SamCat Ani would know and would miss him. I let him know even though old Barky next door had quieted down, that in his memory, Canning Day would continue. Ani was his friend and SamCat truly thought of her as a fellow conspirator and mischief maker. Give Ani a hug for me. Now If I can’t stop crying, I might get something done around here. I took his food to a local shelter – he spent half his life in a shelter but the other half, at least he had me, the great outdoors, and lots of love the second half. Thak you again.

I found their poem for Canning Day… and cried through it myself. Ani was born in a shelter and most of my furry family have been rescues. It is such a privilege to be able to give them warmth, safety and love… and they give so much more back to us. Canning Day will continue… and ol’ Ginger next door will have to run for both himself and Barky, I feel. Hugs from us both x
