Notes from a small dog LIX

Now that’s cool… LIX… supposed to be 59, but for a dog, that’s perfect. Might start signing my pawtographs that way… It’s almost as good as the three kisses when we got to 30… ‘cause I’ve always put the ‘xxx’ at the end of my posts!

Not that she’s happy about that, mind… she says it gets the wrong kind of attention… I’m not sure quite what she means, but I do know that, as far as I’m concerned, it is all about the right kind of attention…you know, the type that brings cuddles, treats and tennis balls…

And right now, I have competition for those… my pal has come to stay for a week while his two-legses are on holiday. First up I had to  introduce him to the household gods… show him how to pay his respects, you know? Of course, she thought I was after the kite feathers…Would I do a thing like that? Well, okay, but that was a mistake… how was I to know she wanted them…?

Still, this visiting thing is all very well… and it’s really nice to have someone to play with when she’s doing tappety things or curled up groaning, or muttering ’bout  ‘bloodytyposandediting’, whatever that is…. But I’m not sure about the whole treats business.

She says there are extra treats so I’m actually getting more… and okay, there do seem to be some extras… I say, if there are extra treats for two, I should be getting twice as many. She just laughs. It doesn’t work that way ‘pparently. Obviously the two legs brain just doesn’t get the whole concept of mathematics…

It’s not as if I mind sharing stuff. My pal didn’t bring any toys, so he’s sharing mine. I’ve even let him eat his way through the spare bones and stuff. I don’t really like ‘em, but they are always good to have in stock so I’d buried a few… She wasn’t too happy when we dug ‘em up and brought them in from the rain for some reason. Kept squeaking about cream sofas…

I’ve even let my pal eat share some of my tennis balls. That’s what friends are for, right? As long as he leaves the rabbit alone… I don’t quite know why, but the rabbit is sort of special. It already seems to have lost an ear, though I think that might have been my fault, but I don’t want it unstuffed. I like my rabbit. I have a soft spot for it…

Mind, I’m good with soft spots. I know how to get to hers at mealtimes… hers, not ours. My pal caught on quickly there, and so far we’ve scored a cheese sandwich between us and some chicken, as well as the toast. I think she’s on to us though… she keeps making extra. Must do… she’s not getting thin or anything… though her coat looks a bit patchy… and she does look a bit funnty when we go out for walks… Sort of stretched both ways…

The good bit is that when my pal goes home, I’m going with him for a couple of days, so we’ll see what we can get up to at his place. I’ve taught him all about making dens…

They’re a great place to curl up and sleep you know. Draughtproof. She just growled and ani hardy feather 006says there are limits. Personally, I haven’t come across those yet…

Now I’ve just got to teach him about next door’s cat…

Hmmm… maybe she’s right.

There are limits after all…

Much love,

Oh.. and LIX 🙂

Seems like a good all rounded thinker. I wonder if he’s remembered that the two legs sometimes read these things?

  6. Sounds like Ani is having a wonderful time with her pal, how kind of her to think of digging up her old bones to share with him, and showing you how nice she is by bringing them indoors! Hope Ani has a lovely time when she goes to LIX’s pad! I look forward to hearing their adventures! 🙂

  10. Ani, it’s Toby here. I’ve sneaked on to Hugh’s ‘puter thing while he complains to the next door neighbour about how hot it is getting. Anyone would sware he lives in the desert the way he goes on about it. However, he has been out and bought a big tub of ice-cream today so I’m looking forward to getting a scoop or two as well.

I wish I was at your house with you and your mate. We’d have a great time on those cream sofas and making dens, but I’m not sure about the cat thing!

Right, better go, cause he’s on his way back.

    A big woof from me!
