What an incredible tree! There has always been a huge tree near me fallen on its side but very much alive. Must have been like that for years and years… all the branches grew out its side straight up to the sky. I drove past the other day and its gone! I felt so shocked, such a sense of loss. Trees should not be cut down.

Beautiful, isn’t it, even in decay. I agree with you.. I had a huge chestnut that overhung the garden… and came home one day to men with chainsaws. It felt like a bereavement.

I know. Every year I feel guilty about having a real Christmas tree. I try to dress it really beautifully so that it has gone out in a blaze of glory but I still feel guilty. Im just a big softy!

The dead things in nature feed the living. Everything enriches the soil. Nature always recycles. 🙂

It is a sad image, but majestic somehow. Nature shows us that there is no end, not really, just a never ending cycle of which we are all a part…

That’s why I don’t find this sad… instead for me it is an image of hope and new beginnings.

Natures ancient sentinels standing lofty and aloof. Witness to the passing of the ages. I love trees.

So do I, Darren. The silence shared with trees is something very special.

Here grows flesh between bones, what old and fallen remind me of as the new grow up between that which recedes with time, returning back to the soil.

Nature is by far a greater artist than any of us… all we do is pay homage.
