Last year Steve, Stuart and myself as Directors of The Silent Eye were privileged to give a series of talks in Glastonbury, a place known to folklore, legend and to the hearts of many as Avalon, the magical realm of the Arthurian tales.
To others it is the place where Christianity came to these shores, carried by Joseph of Arimathea. Still others speak of the legend that Joseph had brought with him a boy on a previous visit… a child named Jesus.
We will never know if ‘those feet in ancient times walked upon England’s pastures green’, yet something of the mystery lingers and, whatever faith you embrace or path you follow, there is something in the air, and in the earth at Glastonbury that draws the eyes and feet of many thousands of people from across the world each year.
It was for this reason that the Glastonbury Sanctuary was brought into being… to provide a safe and welcoming space for those of all paths, faiths and beliefs to meet.
The Glastonbury Reception Centre who run the Sanctuary, as well as numerous other services in the area, are a not for profit organisation.
Last year, the Glastonbury Sanctuary launched an appeal for support in order to continue their work of providing a sacred and meditative space at the heart of the town to those of all faiths, paths and spiritual direction. Thanks to the generous support they recieved from people worldwide they were able to maintain a neutral and welcoming haven for another year.
This year, they are once again in need of your help… and this is your chance to be a small pebble in the stream of legend. Please help in any way you can.

Support our fundraising work with a pledge pebble!
A visitor to the Sanctuary will see that dotted around the space, are beautifully decorated stones carrying peoples names. In 2014, many of you supported us by becoming one of the Glastonbury 500. We have worked out that, annually, we need 500 donations of £25 so that we can keep going. In recognition of a £25 donation or more, we lovingly paint your name on a pebble which sits in the Centre and Sanctuary for one year.
We know that an unfriendly economy might be a hindrance to £25.00 and reassure you that every donation helps, no matter how small, and is just as appreciated and welcomed.

Our pebbles offer a way in which those who felt that the town has given them much can give something back in an energetic exchange. Many People feel their hearts and/or souls are in Glastonbury. Having their name on a pebble offers an opportunity to know they have a physical presence

A great initiative. And I’ve never been to Glastonbury yet. Thanks for making me think of it, Sue.
