Clyde and Friends
Three Books in One
Written by Russ Towne
Illustrated by Josh McGill
Clyde is a Green Giraffe who eats blue bananas and has a penchant for standing on his head. In this volume are three of the stories of his encounters with other creatures that include a flying Hippo and a Whatzadingle.
If this reminds you of Dr Seuss then you are not alone. Both the wonderful illustrations by Josh McGill and the zany poetry of the narrative are very reminiscent of those much loved books. From a parent’s perspective, however, the stories are perhaps less hard edged than some of the Seuss books and lack that edge of linguistic anarchy that really makes any such comparison unfair to the writer.
Children will love them for the rhythm and rhyme as much as for the pictures, while parents will see the gentle lessons that their children can find in the stories; lessons about kindness, helpfulness, working together and the need to follow your dreams.
A delightful gift for a child.
Russ Towne has written a number of children’s books as well as short stories and poetry. He also blogs at A Grateful Man and Clyde and Friends.

Best read to very young children… aand a good place to practice reading skills, possibly up to age seven.
