Goodnight

dawn 005

Tonight I am weary,

Cold sleeplessness

A mind in motion

And a voice in the silence

Held to attention

In the darkness.

But tonight I will sleep.

Emotion has cleansed me

 Clean wind in the heart

And a distant goodnight

Carried to my bedside

In a moment’s care

To ease the stillness

With a friend’s laughter.

Tonight I sleep

As the world grows wings

And learns to fly

Into the morning

Singing the dawn.
