Moon gazing

Ani wants to chase rabbits on her late night walk. I want to look at the moon. For once, I win. And I can’t believe how much the  camera  captures as the moon sails across the sky.

But it doesn’t really matter if the detail is clear, whether man has walked there or if it actually is made of cream cheese, there is simply something about the moon in the night sky that defies cold logic and calls to the heart, the silver light that marks the end of day awakens other emotions than the dawn.

This morning I shared a sunrise with the birds, tonight I share the moon with Ani, a dog, and there is something right about that in ways that move beyond words and into the realms of myth and the natural rhythm of a day that begins and ends with the light of the heavens.

The world shines about me,
luminous as the moon, smiling like a rose,
and a sweet benediction
flows through everything existing.

I wanted to see it on the horizon rising but I got outside too late and it was already high in the sky; perhaps tomorrow.

Beautiful and moving, Sue – and you right: The logic, the science, the cold facts don’t matter a jot; it is the magic which captures us every time. xxx

  4. Aah. Yes. The dark and light magic of the moon. It does have a magnetic pull. I haven’t seen a sunrise in way too long so I love you describe if for us. ❤

  5. There is going to be a red moon this month. The 25th, I believe. I wasn’t able to see the last one because of the clouds. Check it out.
