WordPress isn’t just a place to send words and pictures winging a lonely way out into the ether, it is above all a community and the support shown by bloggers to bloggers is a large part of what makes it, in my mind, the best place to be.
But it is not just the WordPress community that gets involved… bloggers from other platforms are familiar names and friendly faces in the notifications, as well as on the various social media sites.
Like many in our little corner of the Blogosphere, I too have benefitted from that support, both as a writer, having met with nothing but kindness and a generosity to share and promote each other’s work and at a personal level. So…
Artists, Writers, Photographers… lend me your ears…
…and your words and pictures…
What drives you to do what you do? Why do you write? When did you take your first photograph… and why? Do you have a new book coming out? News of an exhibition? What have you learned that you can share? Do you have a story to tell… inspiration to offer… Or advice on writing, publishing, or promoting? Can you share tips on photography or art?
If you would like to have a guest post featured on this blog, please email me at findme@scvincent.com
If you need some inspiration, or would like to see what is required, just click the highlighted names to take a look at these excellent articles by Judith Barrow, Sally Cronin and Mary Smith.
The guidelines are simple…
I will consider only original, family friendly material that is your own work.
I am happy to promote the work of any artist or writer, as long as it fits the tone of the blog.
I will not consider material that is offensive to any group or organisation.
I am not happy to be spammed by those simply wanting to use my blog as a free advertising space or to boost ranking through backlinks…It is not going to happen so don’t waste your time.
Please note: I do not conduct interviews for guest bloggers, I am not a book-blogger or reviewer… I am a writer happy to promote writers and a reader and who likes to offer other readers something that may interest them.
While I may help with book launches, guest posts, book extracts or helpful/interesting articles are much preferred to straight promo ads.
Once we have agreed on a guest post, I will need
Your article… between 500-1000 words works best, but don’t feel constrained by a word count! Please submit the article as an attached Word document or in the body of your email.
Up to six photographs in jpeg format attached to your email. Please resize them to a maximum of 1000 pixels on the longest side if you can. If you don’t have pictures, I probably have some that will work.
A brief bio.
Links to your website/blog and main social media/Amazon/Goodreads accounts.
Please note: If you don’t know how to resize images, or have any other technical questions, just let me know. Please do not just insert the images into your article or send the lot as a pdf as it takes me the best part of an hour to unpick the text and pictures before I can even begin to follow links and format the post.
I will…
Create and schedule your post, letting you know the time and date. I will also send you a direct link when it is published unless I am away from home and the computer at the time.
Post links to the article across my social media accounts, including the blog feed at Goodreads.
It is a good idea to keep an eye on any comments on the day of publication, and over the next few days… You can ‘subscribe to comments’ to get email notifications when you leave a comment on your article by checking the box below the reply before pressing send, or manage notifications in your settings.
I shouldn’t have to say this, but in light of a few recent emails… I reserve the right to refuse any submission I feel is unsuitable for the blog.
Don’t be shy… come and share your work!
P.S. It’s free!
Thank you, Sue!

Sue, I came here to ask, well, if you would be willing to be an interviewed author for my local Writer’s group sometime this year… 🙂 Just started the group in November and currently looking at doing a guest local and/or self-published author every quarter – we can do the high-tech, skype interview, but frankly, I like to purchase a copy of which ever book the author is wishes promoted, email them a list of 10 ‘meet the author, discover their journey’ style questions – and present to the group – if the group approves the dev site, we will have a website and of course, we included your choice of profiles, site and/or purchase links for your works in both our group and district newsletter offerings – Thanks for considering! 🙂

I would love to guest post. Would you consider a flash story? It’s in my collection, and not blogged anywhere else. Other than that, I’m not sure what you’d value. I can write intelligently about writing tips and social media. Not so good at the semi-autobiographical stuff. That mostly gets put into formal flash memoirs or incorporated into stories.
I can keep it very clean, and I avoid religion and politics.
Anyway, you can contact me here if any of this interests you: https://cathleentownsend.com/about/contact-cathleen-townsend/.
