Dreaming trees

Лунная ночь. Большая дорога

Where moonlight bends reality

And pathways through the darkness gleam,

You stand beneath a silver tree

Within the secret realms of dream.

*

Wary voyager tread slowly

The vision not what it may seem,

Vivid Now is embraced wholly

Within the secret realms of dream.

*

Shadowed branches softly swaying

Whisper tales of a limpid stream,

Nightmare dread their song allaying

Within the secret realms of dream.

*

Onward, like a lamb to slaughter,

With worldly errors to redeem,

Bathe in lucent, limpid water

Within the secret realms of dream.

*

Wash your fears away with starlight

Dance along the brightest moonbeam

Wonders woken by the dark night

Within the secret realms of dream.

*

For Jane Dougherty’s poetry challenge #32… write a kyrielle inspiried by the painting, including the words moonlight, tread, wary, secret, swaying.

  1. This is stunning Sue, really beautiful. I particularly love the stanza including ‘with worldly errors to redeem’. I do feel like that happens for me sometimes in dreams, that I get to see my behavior in playback and thereby find the humility, where necessary, to seek forgiveness/understanding. Blessings, Harula x

I could get lost in the image alone, then the poem.

You did very well with the prompt, Sue. Sarahsouthwest’s favorite line was the one about washing away fears with starlight, and my own was the very next one, “Dance along the brightest moonbeam.” I think it’s a lovely image. 🙂

You’ve captured the magical realm of moonlight so well, Sue. It amazes me how you simply create out of thin air. A lovely piece.

Beautiful–lovely imagery–and very song-like. I can really imagine someone singing this.
