According to the number of notifications not currently stuffing my inbox to the brim as I would usually expect, I have to assume that either a) everyone has emigrated off-planet in case the calculations about the asteroid are wrong, b) Halloween came early, opening a portal that swallowed the blogosphere and leaving me and just a handful of others across the globe cheerfully tapping away or c) WordPress are up to something again.
Having nipped in to check all my notifications were still ‘live’… in theory at least… and checked the spam and trash folders in case of an email glitch, I have no idea why I am not seeing the blogs I follow except through the Reader… the one thing that reassures me that scenarios ‘a’ and ‘b’ are not too much of a worry.
So please excuse me if I appear to have gone silent as I seethe quietly from the relative obscurity of my PC.
And if anyone knows what is going on around here this time, I’ll be hiding under the table in a hard hat waiting for the bombshell of ‘new and improved’ Beep Beep Bopping….

I’m having a similar problem. It must be the full moon this week or Word Press. ๐

I noticed a week ago that the number of daily views and visitors dropped; they have been fairly consistent from April thru mid September and then dropped so this month they are down by about a third. No idea why..

Same here apparently… I don’t usually worry about stats, but it seems odd when all the email notifications have gone missing too…

Is don’t receive email notifications because my mailbox would burst. But even the reader cannot be deemed reliable at all times…

The Reader is very hit and miss, so I follow a few hundred blogs by email as well, to make sure I don’t miss things I want to read. Not everyone posts every day so that’s manageable…but it is unusual for no-one at all to post for three days…

I am starting to slowly follow blogs on blog loving as I guess that won’t be as hit and miss as the reader. But refollowing my favourite blogs on there is a bit of work…

I keep meaning to look into that, but usually the emails work just fine.

Maybe WP will be replacing the Beep Beep Bop with a MOAN WAIL BOOO for Halloween… ๐

I use the Reader only as back-up, most of my notifications come by email and I have had barely any the past few days.
They can replace that horror with anything that is a0less condescending and b) works. I’m a reactionary and stick with the old version.

I thought it was just ME. I had one great day … then a couple of good days, then it fell through the floor and has stayed there. I think it’s WP messing around with the reader and losing our followers. I get fewer than have the notifications I was getting a few months ago … and since I don’t track all my followers … well. I’m assuming that most of them have NOT gone off-planet or on vacation, though a few are away. Most of us are still here. Every time WP decided to “fix” something that ain’t broke, suddenly, there’s no one there. But I’m here. Always, it would seem. Forever, I hope.

Having checked this weeks figures against others, they do seem poor in comparison, but I’d say I’m getting about 10% of my usual notifications, so if that is a global problem, no wonder figures are low.

Hi Sue I’m still here and yes getting your notifications somewhere amongst the 1000 other emails I am trying to keep up with while trying to read and review 4 books I promised to do soonest, while trying to edit my next novel and attempting to complete 8 new course required for my new job. Meantime I have a tone of Twitter comments and FB comments to respond to ohhhh (sighs) where does one find the time to do all this and still have family time. Drowning a little here, but I am still here even if its only just to read whenever a minute is spare.

It is worth checking the settings for the blogs you follow in the reader…
LikeLiked by 1 person
There is a huge list of them and spend a bunch of time changing settings and came back and they were right where they were. A lot of them are not readable and won’t change. Also I like to put ones aside by marking them in email for later and I don’t know if the reader does that or not.

The reader does allow yo to have emails delivered instantly, daily or weekly from individual blogs, but it isn’t an ideal solution.

I used to get them all instantly, but for those who rarely post but whose blogs I love, I’ve opted for weekly… it helps with the stuffed inbox.

Oh no! What’s going on this time? This happens to everyone at different times, yet there seems no explanation for it! Did you get it fixed yet? All my weekly ones should be coming through tomorrow, so we’ll see. Come to think of it, I dont think I saw all of the blogs I follow last Sunday; I assumed some of them didnt post last week, but perhaps not. Perhaps its wp. Well you may recall the recent problems I’d been having with not even being able to open my own blog’s dashboard but that problem seems to have gone away now, Sue. Can’t say I’ve seen a decline in the number of notifications I am getting from WordPress but as we know they are always doing updates or trying to fix things that we all love and are not broken. Maybe after the trick or treaters have gone things will settle down again?
When I contacted the Happiness engineers at WordPresss they were very helpful so maybe this is a case for them?
