Notes from a small dog XLVI

Ani

I may have been sulking, the rain’s not abated,
I sat by the door and just patiently waited
But all day it rained and there was no surcease
Then my energy burst… now I’m breaching the peace.

I’ve run round the table and bounced on the chair
And chased any dust motes that float through the air,
I’ve harried the spiders and shaken the rug
And played hide and seek with a small, shiny bug.

I’ve dumped every ball that I own on the table,
She’s parried and thrown them as long as she’s able.
We’ve played tug of war with a soggy, chewed rope
And I gave her stuffed toys with my eyes full of hope.

The sofa’s denuded, its cushions are scattered…
(She had just cleaned up, of course, not that it mattered.)
I decapitated her best feather duster
But she has a camera and you just can’t trust her…

But what, I must ask, is a small dog to do
When the garden’s all wet and you feel bored and blue?
It’s raining too much, so I can’t have a run
And the duster was tempting and really good fun.

(It’s dead now though…)

Much love,

Ani xxx

Ah, she’s a tease, your Own Goddess, isn’t she, Ani? Lovely dance moves, though; Jumble would be most impressed! xxx

Haha Ani!! Sometimes mum calls me a “little beast” but she doesn’t say what kind. Who knows, you may have a cat somewhere in your ancestry? But us four foots have to take fun wherever we find it. Much Love, SamCat

          Me? Cat? Noooooo!
Mind, she does say I use my paws like a cat sometimes… and I do like to lie on the back of the sofa and curl up on the windowsill… Hmmm… may have to have a word with my parents…;)
          Much love,

I may be a cat, and you know sometimes lines must be drawn, but when it comes to the pleasures of life and loving our two foots, I think we are all the same under the fur. xoxox

I have to agree with you there, SamCat. I may even have to revise my opinion of felines… ‘cept for Old Ginger next door. He doesn’t count. He’s a space invader….

Ha! him and that barky little spotty dog next door. Wish the mothership would beam them up. I walk around in my yard, minding my business and old Spotty throws himself at the fence and barks and acts badly. I tried telling him I was in my yard but he would have none of it…barkbarkbark. Some of us foorfoots are like some two foots – gits!!! It’s a hard job being us sometimes, isn’t it Ani? Space invaders….

Yep… with you there SamCat… and all I’m doing is keeping the sparrows of the shed and Ginger Tom comes up and tried to eat ’em. Now, I can bark at my sparrows, but he can keep his paws right off…They live in my honeysuckle and I watch ’em grow. Hrmph!
