I need help.
(Those of my friends and family who are nodding sagely and giggling in the background… I can hear you…)
The dinosaur computer is on its way and The Bulldozer about to take its place…a thing of mean metal fins and extreme edges, black as night and with a memory to lust after…
All well and good, you might think…
Except dinosaur has gone on strike, overwhelmed by the Big Freeze, quite appropriately, and the thousands of files currently languishing in its dusty vaults, all ready to move home, are stuck. Dinosaur won’t recognise the external hard drives to transfer them to pastures new.
And the thought of having to back the lot up on memory sticks is not a pretty one.
Would you fancy attacking a Dinosaur armed only with a stick, I ask you?
I may have thrown chocolate at the problem… I admit nothing…I may be stalling before pulling plugs… I may even be daunted by the necessity of moving a small lorry load of paper from my desk to get to wires and sockets….
But I will not be beaten, not by a Dinosaur.
But I am, I admit, rather fond of the old girl.. she has served me well and holds memories irreplaceable. Books have been written, poems penned, a School founded and, more importantly than all else, friendships cherished.
So, should I disappear off the face of the blogosphere you know I will have failed valiantly.. but temporarily. In those famous words,
“I’ll be back.”
But…
“I may be gone some time….”
Wish me luck…. 🙂

Hahaha…. Very funny but seriously hope you succeed.

Have a poet, writer friend in the NC mountains also experiencing dinosaur computer issues. He’s limping by but sadly is most likely going to have to welcome a new baby into the fold. Good luck!!

I know the feeling. My recent experience was rather in the opposite direction though. In moving photographs from my old laptop to the new one, they seemed to reproduce avidly and I ended up with 30,000 images randomly distributed. They took hours to eliminate even with a downloaded app that was thumbnail blind and missed most of them. By the way, I couldn’t resist sharing your cartoon with a friend who missed the boat in a rather big way recently, though without any serious consequences. I hope you resuscitate the dinosaur long enough to resurrect your files.

I love that cartoon…I have it saved on my computer, oddly enough 🙂
Hope you get everything off that you want to!!
worst case scenario, email the files to yourself and then reaccess them with your new monster …I’ve had to do that before. took WAY too long, but I got everything off before extinction happened.
Good Luck!
