I wish all blogs had a follow by email option…
Chris The Story Reading Ape's Blog
One of my fellow WP Blogger Friends asked me how they can add a ‘Follow by Email’ button onto their WP blog.
Here is a (I hope) simple tutorial:
1. Go into your WP Admin:

2. Select Appearance

3. Select Widgets

4. From the selection offered scroll down

5. Find the Follow Button and Follow Blog

6. As I understand it, the ‘Follow’ Button will enable Followers to receive RSS Notifications of your posts

7. The ‘Follow Blog’ widget will enable Followers to receive Email notifications of all your posts

8. This is what the Follow Blog widget looks like inside

9. In my case I have a Sidebar where I added the Follow Blog button, your blog theme may give you other options as well.
Choose a Sidebar to make it as easy to find as possible.
10. To move the widget from the bottom to another, higher location, press and hold your mouse…

Me too!!!! I actually don’t always follow blogs when they don’t. The reader is tricky enough, but try navigating it with your eyes closed. There’s no way to be efficient, emailed posts are for me the only way to go.

Emailed posts allow me to really keep up…unless I’m away then the inbox just overflows… 🙂

Also, in case by any chance you don’t know, WordPress has a pretty good set of “how to” videos and other help files for most tasks you need to accomplish (or might want to do) with your blog.

They do indeed. Asking Google usually finds an answer somewhere.

The only problem is that the “help” files don’t change — but WordPress’s software DOES change … and they don’t necessarily go back and update the help.

I’d noticed that too 🙂 Still, it usually gives a starting point 🙂

This is great info. I’ve seen lots of blogs without these.

Me too and then I end up missing so much of what I would have liked to read.

When I come across blog that I like and they don’t have one of these, I politely ask them to add it, explaining why. If they do, all is well, but if they don’t I add their URL to a ‘favourites’ list that I check once a week. They get a couple of weeks and unless their content really holds my attention, they get deleted.
The other thing I contact them about is if they’ve got white text on black (or dark) background … but that’s another rant! 😀

I’ve been known to suggest it too, though you can get round it by altering your own settings.
