Notes from a small dog LXI

a 002

She was out for ages the other day. I had to let her off though, ‘cause she brought me a friend to play ball with at the weekend. He’s well trained… until he hides the ball in the bushes… but he’s pretty good at sharing the cheese an’ stuff.

‘Pparently, they were going out without me again next day. I ask you… he’d only just arrived…!

So I had a listen, thinking that they might just be persuaded to take me with them. I knew I didn’t stand a chance when they started talking about restaurants and pizzas. I never get pizza any more…

I was determined, though, to find out what they were up to, so I pretended to go to sleep for a bit under the table and just listened in. Well, it just got worse… not only going out without me, but to a Bloggers thingy as well!

ani 002

Now, in case she hasn’t noticed, she isn’t the only blogger in the house. Every so often I like to share a few thoughts myself… and I have to say, though I probably shouldn’t, she gets asked about my books more often than she does about hers.

Anyway… as it turns out, they were off to this Bloggers whatsit and there were going to be awards! I pricked my ears up at that. I had to wonder how they went about the whole affair. It seems you had to be nominated, then bloggers voted to choose their favourite for the winner.

Had I been nominated? No. And why not? Well, she said, there was no category for dogs! I had to choke back a few choice words there. For a start… cat-egory? Isn’t this discrimination right from the start? Even alligators have allegories… She just laughed, and said I’d have to make do with doggerel instead. Cheek!

So, I was thinking, maybe we dogs ought to get together and sort our own blogging awards. I’m sure Toby would give me a hand… maybe Danny and Trigger too…

‘Course, first I would have to come up with a name for them…

She says I can’t have Blogging Awards For Talking Animals, ‘cause somebody beat me to it. I had to laugh at that though… all those actors getting talking animals awards… and she forbade me from calling them the Blogging Animal Literary Laurels. And if she mentions calling them the Blogging Awards for Daft-Dogs Of Genius again, I may bite her ankles.

Well, okay, maybe not…earthwalker 021

But she can catch her own flies…

P’raps I should just give up on the whole affair till the Oxford English Dictionary changes ‘cat-egory’ to something more canine friendly…

It’s a dog’s life you know…

Much love, Ani xxxx

  1. Poor. poor Ani! I agree, cat-egory is highly discriminatory!

Ani, doggonit, it’s just not fair. I’m with you. How about a Doggeree Award? Don’t wait for Mr. Oxford to make up any dog-egory word. You know that word got mis-corrected to dog-eared! That’s not canine friendly, now is it? Happy trails! Christine

Erm… I have to say, dog-eared sort of works with ears like mine 😛
I shall ponder and see what should be done… a nice snooze in the sun might help… 😉

Mylo would like it to be known that he thinks Ani should have won best dressed, or at least cutest eyes, but in case that seems too forward and a bit, well, doggist, he offers the hope that next year they will choose a dog friendly venue where he can explain muzzle a muzzle what he means. Until then, keep chasing.

Wonderful post, Ani you’re cool! If you just had one award you could get away without having any cat-egories!

Having just devoured the dictionary ( but don’t tell her…) I am fairly sure that isn’t how purrfect is s’posed to be written… but that’s okay 😀
Say hi to Angel for me 🙂

  9. Hi Ani, Roxy loves that wide-eyed look you have perfected, and is practicing it for when she gets into trouble.
On another note. I was thinking of perhaps the ‘Doggers’ awards, but realised it might not go down to we,, (although could be interesting)!!!

  14. Did you hear that I sabotaged the wi-fi here, Ani? Yes, off he went on Saturday morning to that blogger thingy thing (he’s done nowt but talk about it for weeks) and back he comes, way past my bedtime, going on about nothing but pizzas, his bloggy friends, an award he reckons he was pipped at the post for (ah – dream on, milk bottle legs) and something about an app that tells you the truth! Have you ever heard of such rubbish?

Well, lets just say that I had a nice conversation with a nice man who works for the phone thingy company on Saturday, and told him I’d share my bonio with him if he cut off the wi-fi for a few days. Not only did it work, but he also liked dipping the bonio into his tea!

Sending you lots of woofs and tennis balls,
    Toby

Ah, nice one, Toby! Serves him right… I might just have to remember that when she wanders off again… ‘pparently she’ll be out for ages on Sunday with my boy… though I might have to let her off that one at least…
She doesn’t get me Bonios… I’m ok with that, though I’m not sure about dunking chicken in tea… might have to try 😉
