Poised for a moment
On the threshold of being
Called to the journey
Bound by the passage of time
Earth to earth and light to light

The photo for this week’s prompt was taken at Rowtor Rocks in Derbyshire, an enigmatic site that we know well. With ancient rock carvings, caves both natural and man-made and a history full of mysteries, this is a truly intriguing site. The strange being at the foot of the stair is my writing partner, Stuart France.
The picture shows a flight of stone steps that rise from a level shelf with three caves, up through the earth to a rocking stone. The steps are very difficult to ascend, being uneven, narrow and high. They lead up from a pitch-dark chamber with a tiny hole pierced through its walls… and amazing acoustics.
We have used the site as part of one of our workshops and shared the strange landscape with friends.
We also managed to scare the bejaysus out of a group of teenage lads who were lurking in the caves when they caught sight of ‘Coyote’ when we were shooting images for our book, An Imperious Impulse.

Thank you so much to everyone who took part this week and to everyone who reblogged the prompt, round up and the individual resposes! A new prompt will be published later today. As always, I will reblog as many contributions as space and time allows as they come in… and all of them will be featured in the round-up next Thursday.
All the posts are listed below, so please click on the links below to read them and leave a comment for the author!
Pingbacks do not always come through… if you have written a post for this challenge and it does not appear in the round-up, please leave a link to your post in the comments and I will add it to the list.
An invitation to writephoto writers…
As there are usually too many contributions to reblog all of them every week, and so that we can get to know their writers, I would like to invite all writephoto writers to come and introduce themselves on the blog as my guest! Click here for details.
Come and join in!

What a cool place, Sue. I couldn’t help laughing at the terrified teenagers. That’s an experience they’ll never forget. 🙂

Oh I love that last line.
I wonder what those boys thought they saw? (K)

Their choice if expletives was quite revealing.

Stuart eh? Fascinating as your sense of proportion is neatly thrown off kilter!
