Eyrie

Lost in misty, moss-green silence

Seek her eyes in wild abandon

Midnight tresses bind you

*

Huntress of the shadow land

Talon-sharp her laughter

Lost in misty, moss-green silence

*

Underneath the dark cascade

Silken ripples drown you

Seek her eyes in wild abandon

*

Cold within the eagle’s eyrie

Velvet madness bleeds you dry

Midnight tresses bind you.

Cascade poem, originally written for Jane Dougherty‘s Poetry Challenge.

Wow, Sue, such vivid and haunting imagery. I wouldn’t want to meet her in a dark alley! This one feels as though there’s a story brewing somewhere… 🙂

  8. This reminds me of Keats’s La belle dame sans merci. Haunting, indeed.

  9. I’m not familiar with the cascade poetry form. I really like your poem and the cascading effect it achieves. I also really like the accompanying image.
