Standing at the gate
A shifting reality
Forever unfolds
Its ebb and flow revealing
Pearls of magic in the soul

The photo for this week’s prompt was taken from within Merlin’s Cave at Tintagel. It is a place that holds some very special memories for me and one that never fails to stir the imagination.
There is a long path down to the little cove, and before it was a modern road, the beac would not have been easy to reach. On either side of the bay there are caves. This one, known as Merlin’s Cave lies beneath the headland upon which stands the ruined castle of Tintagel.
It is an odd place of opposites… more of a tunnel, with one end opening onto the calm little cove with its waterfal and silky waves, and the other leading straight into a rocky sea.
It was in the castle above this cave, so legend tells, that King Arthur was conceived by Ygraine, when Merlin used his arts to change Uther Pendragon into the likeness of her absent husband, Duke Gorlois.
The very first ritual workshop that I attended was at Tintagel. Terrified, not knowing what on earth to expect… I found magic in the wind and the waves, in the landscape and its stories, and, not least in the people I met there who would go on to play such an important part in my life.
You can never really tell where the first step might wait that takes you down a new and transformative path, and there were many decades of ‘steps’ on the journey that took me to Tintagel. But I do know that it was at this place that a new chapter of my life began to unfold… a chapter that eventually brought me to the Silent Eye, to the creation of our own workshops and into a story that I hope will continue for a very long time to come.

My thanks, as always, to everyone who took part. All the posts inspired by this image are listed below, so please click on the links to read them and leave a comment for the author. Thank you too, to everyone who reblogged the prompt, round up and the individual resposes.
A new prompt will be published later today. I will reblog as many contributions as space and time allows, as they come in… and all of them will be featured in the round-up on Thursday.
Pingbacks do not always come through… and I can miss things too, so if you have written a post for this challenge and it does not appear in the round-up, please leave a link to your post in the comments and I will add it to the list.
A Reminder and an invitation
As there are usually too many contributions to reblog all of them every week, and so that we can get to know their writers, I would like to invite all writephoto regulars to come and introduce themselves on the blog as my guest! ‘Regulars’ does not mean you have to take part every week… Click here for details
Come and join in!
Please leave your comments for the contributors on their blogs.

Hello Sue and all.
WordPress has gone screwy on my end again, and at the moment the PressThis button is invisible, and the Reblog button wonât work.
Iâve another way to put the link onto my blog via way of a share button available when I go onto the internet on my phone but it wonât provide a pingback.
I want to let you know your post will be shared, and that you guys rock!

Ah, I should have written and Arthurian tale! One place i do want to visit since there are so many legends around that area.

It is worth the visit for the landscape alone… and, if you are happy to set logic aside and revel in myth, plenty to see 🙂

We can never make up our mind where we would rather live, Tintagel of Glastonbury… What we could do with is a camper van, then we could live in all sorts of places!
