Undoubtedly… the Yin Yang is an eloquent symbol perfectly expressing the nature of the mundane world. The corresponding glyph which grants the ability to penetrate this nature is not usually given but omitted and consists in the eight Tri-Grams which surround it like the eight directions of the western temple.

The savants who discovered or were given this system and worked it had everything they needed to interact in a meaningful way with the creative forces of the universe.

Pisces… A later, western, take of the same idea, the early depictions have a sort of ‘umbilical cord’ linking the fishes mouth to mouth…although the roof boss at Selby has still yet another slightly different take on all of that…
