#writephoto regulars ~ Ritu Raps

I asked the writephoto challenge regulars if they would like to come over and introduce themselves. The first one to do so is Ritu Bhathal, from But I Smile Anyway.

Without those of you who write and read the pieces inspired by he weekly photos, the prompt would not exist.

So, if you follow or take part in the weekly challenge, why not drop me a line?

“So,” wrote Ritu, “I sat here, thinking of what to do… and instead of a ramble about general stuff, I came up with a rap!”

The Ritu Rap

Well hello there,

My name is Ritu

I’m here to introduce

Myself to you

Who am I?

And why should you care?

So I’m a creative person

And I got good hair!

I like to write poems

All different styles

And I like to spin tales

Short, or lasting miles!

I’ve dabbled in singing

And a little bit of art

I sometimes post recipes

Be it savoury or tart

A teacher by profession

Wife and mother too

I like to share my family

Woes and happiness with you.

I’ll ramble on about

Issues that catch my eye

Those things that make me

Think “Dear God, why?”

So I have a poem book

Rated by a few

And I hope to have a novel

Sitting on a shelf too

But, in the end

I wanna make you smile

When you read my work

I wanna make it worth your while

And there you have it

The long and short of Ritu

Signing out now

Very pleased to have met you!

 “And I even recorded it!”

Ritu Bhathal was born in Birmingham in the mid-1970’s to migrant parents, hailing from Kenya but with Indian origin. This colourful background has been a constant source of inspiration to her.
From childhood, she always enjoyed reading. This love of books is mostly credited to her mother.
The joy of reading spurred her on to become creative in her own writing, from fiction to poetry.
Winning little writing competitions at school and locally gave her the encouragement to continue writing.
As a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and teacher, she has drawn on inspiration from many avenues to create the poems that she writes.
A qualified teacher, having studied at Kingston University, she now deals with classes of children as a sideline to her writing!
Ritu also writes a blog, a mixture of life and creativity, thoughts and opinions, which was awarded first place in the Best Overall Blog Category at the 2017 Annual Bloggers Bash Awards.
Ritu is happily married, and living in Kent, with her Hubby Dearest, and two children, not forgetting the furbaby Sonu Singh.
Having published an anthology of poetry, Poetic RITUals, she is currently working on some short stories, and a novel, to be published in the near future.
