Sue’s photo for the Thursday Photo Prompt had me spinning a little tale of dragons, battles, and a seer. Please walk this way:

‘Seer, speak to me of the visions you see, hold nothing back.’  

So says the King in anguished tones. The kingdom is in the path of destruction. A prize to be ground underfoot and vanquished from the face of this land. How brutal and senseless revenge is! Their enemies would rather see the Shining City disappear into earth and rock, rather see it erased from memory and history, rather see the end of something that stands as a beacon for hope and wisdom.

The Seer foretells:

So begins the end, of sagas sung and histories made. So ends the beginning, of fates woven. I see sadness and grief unending, and lineage torn asunder. My eyes are on fire and mind shrouded, the gods are hesitant, and afeared to say more.
