Oh, how we miss the boat Sue!
Pictures like this are so reminiscent of our trips up the Avon to Stratford. One of the bridges we went under was very much like this one, and we had to aim for the centre arch.
Quite a few had arches and were all clearly marked for navigation, allowing for the depth of the water and obstacles sometimes unseen beneath the surface.
Anyone coming down river had right of way and horns had to be sounded approaching arches and bridges, though we almost came a cropper once with someone coming upriver totally heedless of us coming the other way. Locking down was always faster than locking up, but the quiet pace of the journey was relaxing and restful. What took just over an hour in the car took us 3 days on the boat!
