Elusive Realities: Dorinda Duclos – Love from Beyond

It happened in the living room of an old boyfriend’s home.  We were sitting on the sofa discussing odds and ends, when I mentioned that I sometimes could feel my Nana (maternal grandmother) nearby.  He looked at me rather oddly, asking where she lived.  I replied “Heaven”.  We chatted a bit more, he not saying anything remotely close to the spiritual world, and then it happened.  The scent of perfume floated by us.  He asked me if it was me, as I had been fishing in my purse for something.  I just smiled, and waited.  Across the room, his black cat sat on the arm of a rocking chair.  The rocker began moving, the cat hissed and ran from the room.  Nana had made her presence known, even to a non-believer.

Another time, my daughter and I were upstairs, each in our own rooms.  She was napping.  On her nightstand, she had laid her glasses.  They flew off the stand and across the room, waking her up.  Moments later, papers went flying off my desk.  It was the day my father-in-law had passed, years earlier, which also happened to be my husband’s birthday.  Although my daughter never had the opportunity to meet her grandfather, he made sure she knew he was watching over her.

My Nana, mentioned above, had been in a coma for some time, and peacefully passed in her sleep.  On the night of her passing, I was sitting quietly in the family room while the adults were in the kitchen discussing arrangements.  It was a full moon that night.  Something caught the corner of my eye, making me look outside.  There, on the lawn, a moon beam, and as I looked further up, more moonbeams, now making the sign of the cross.  I called for everyone to come look, but they ignored me.  I was 12.  It was Rose Marie’s way of letting me know she had reached Heaven.

My son, the only other one in our house who has ever experienced paranormal activity, was heard yelling one day after he had gone out into the garage.  He ran back in.  We all asked what was wrong.  He said someone was in the garage, and had yelled at him!  I went to look, and found no one.  We then labeled the unknown spirit “Jon’s Friend”.  He has been here ever since.  Never causes a problem, but every once in a while, he makes his presence known.

In 1984, I was involved in a major motor vehicle accident.  My car was crushed by a tractor trailer.  I was trapped in the car, covered in glass.  Out of nowhere, a man was at my side window.  He asked me if I was okay, but the door was jammed, I needed to climb out the window.  I told him I couldn’t move.  He reached in, moved me slightly and told me to jump, he would catch me.  I did, and he did, and he carried me to the side of the road.  He stayed with me for a bit until the EMT’s arrived, then said he had to go.  I thanked him, not getting his name, and when I looked for him, he was gone.  He had literally disappeared.  Later I found out, the date of the accident was the day my mom’s Aunt Helen (Nana’s sister) had passed years before.  She had sent down an angel to bring me to safety.  I carry her picture with me, always.

I find myself quite fortunate to be able to feel my loved ones around me.  Although many refuse to believe, I have firsthand knowledge that angels and lost spirits roam the Earth.  The saying has always been “Be kind to strangers, you never know if it’s an angel in disguise”.  Truth!

Thank you, Sue, for letting me share my stories with your readers.

Elusive realities

If you have had a strange experience or encounter that you would like to share, please get in touch with me at findme@scvincent.com (or my usual email if you already have it) and we can discuss a guest post.

I am not looking for sensationalism or fictional tales… but in light of the response to some recent posts, I think it would be both useful and reassuring to others to realise that none of us are alone in these strange encounters and experiences and perhaps we can open discussion on what they may be or may mean.

If you would like to share your story but prefer to remain anonymous, we can discuss that too. If you would like to share your beliefs and opinions on the nature of these experiences, I would be happy to talk about a guest post. Through sharing with respect we may learn to understand our world and each other a little better.

You can find previously published encounters with elusive realities here.

I was honored when Sue asked me to contribute my stories to her “Elusive Realities” series. So many of us have had encounters with spirits, and most shrug it off as coincidence…but it’s not. I hope you enjoy my stories. Thank you, Sue, for allowing me to share this with your readers ❤

Thank you for sharing your intriguing and heartwarming stories with us Dorinda. You are absolutely right, beware of those who do walk this earth passing themselves as humans but are in fact angels. 🙂
