I had a letter from a fellow sufferer. That phrase, “You never know what my mom will make me wear…” It made me cringe… The antlers were bad enough…. and she didn’t keep them on me for any longer than it took her to grab a picture or three.
I consider I was very restrained in my disposal of them. I even left them with stuffing in.
I sincerely hope she hasn’t got anythine else up her sleeve… I may not be so restrained next time…
Dot, though, who looks after Darlene Foster, seems to be a little more forgiving than me…
Much love, Ani xxx
Dot’s letters
Hi Ani!
Here is my letter to Santa. Thanks for sending these on. I’ve sent a picture so Santa knows what I look like. Hope you don’t have to dress up. You never know what my mom will make me wear.
Licks, Dot
Dear Santa,
Its almost Christmas and I’ve been a very good dog. Most of the time, except when I chase the neighbor’s cat.
For Christmas, I would like a new toy, one with lots of stuffing that I can pull out. And please one with no awful squeaky thing inside because they scare me. I also would like a bone to chew on. Well, maybe two or three as I go through them fast. And Santa, please don’t bring any snow because I don’t like it. I’m a Spanish dog and we don’t like being cold. No yukky rain either. Please don’t come down the chimney as that would really scare me and mom wouldn’t like the mess it would make.
I promise to be good and not chase the cat anymore. At least I’ll try but he teases me and, well sometimes I just can’t help myself.
Love,
Dot the dog
PS Don’t bother bringing the cat anything. He’s not been good at all!

Amanda in New Mexico – Ghosts in the Wind
Amanda Ross is on a school trip to Taos, New Mexico with several of her fellow creative students. Join Amanda, Cleo and their funny friend, Caleb, as they visit an ancient and beautiful landscape where a traditional hacienda, an ancient pueblo, and a haunted and spooky hotel all hold secrets to a wild and violent past. Does Cleo really see ghosts? Can Amanda escape the eerie wind that follows her everywhere? Perhaps the Day of the Dead will reveal the mysteries of Taos in this latest adventure of Amanda’s travels.
Amanda Jane Ross is certainly becoming a world traveller; she’s now in sunny Spain on vacation with her friend Leah. While there, she encounters a mysterious young girl who looks eerily like the girl in a famous painting she saw in a Madrid museum. Even weirder, the girl keeps showing up wherever Amanda finds herself – Madrid, the remote mountains of rural Spain, the beaches on the Mediterranean Sea, a lively fiesta and the busy streets of Barcelona. Amanda wants to help this sweet, young girl and her beloved pony escape the clutches of a mean horse-dealer. Come with Amanda on her next adventure as she attempts to unravel the mystery behind the Girl in the Painting while she treks across Spain – always one step ahead of danger!
Amanda is delighted to show Leah around Alberta during her visit from England. They take in the Calgary Stampede, go on a cattle drive, visit Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, spend time with the dinosaurs at the Royal Tyrrell Museum and explore the crazy Hoodoos. When Amanda finds a stone with a unique mark on it, she doesn’t think it’s important until everyone seems to want it – including a very ornery cowboy. Is this stone worth ruining Leah’s holiday and placing them both in danger? Spend time with Amanda as she explores her own country while attempting to decipher the mysterious writing on the stone and keep it from those determined to take it from her.
Twelve year old Amanda Ross finds herself on an elegant riverboat with her bestie, Leah, cruising down the beautiful Danube, passing medieval castles, luscious green valleys and charming villages. When she is entrusted with a valuable violin by a young, homeless musician during a stop in Germany, a mean boy immediately attempts to take it from her. Back on their cruise, Amanda struggles to keep the precious violin safe for the poor prodigy. Along the way, she encounters a mysterious monk, a Santa Claus look-alike, and the same nasty boy. Follow Amanda down the Danube, through Germany, Austria and Hungary, as she enjoys the enchanting sounds of music everywhere she goes. She remains on the lookout though, wondering just who she can trust.
Amanda Ross is an average twelve year old Canadian girl. So what is she doing thousands of kilometres from home in the United Arab Emirates? It’s her own fault really, she wished for adventure and travel when she blew out those candles on her last birthday cake. Little did she know that a whole different world awaited her on the other side of the globe, one full of intrigue, mystery and folklore. A world with a beautiful princess, a dangerous desert and wonderful friends. Join Amanda on her first adventure as she discovers the secrets behind The Perfume Flask.
Amanda Ross is visiting England and taking in all the sights. She gets lost in the maze at Hampton Court, does some shopping at Harrods, meets the ravens in the Tower of London, explores Windsor Castle, and rides the London Eye. When she discovers a vintage book is missing from a collection, she is determined to find out who stole it. Amanda befriends a pair of tough teenagers from the streets of London, an elderly bookshop owner, and a big, friendly, clever, Maine Coon cat named Rupert. Follow Amanda through cobblestone streets, medieval castles, and underground tunnels in her quest to find the missing novel!

Dear Dot The Dog, If you need to kill those scary squeakers, me and Gibbs can usually kill them with one firm jaw grab. They make a half a squeak, then they don’t squeak again. Ever. Gibbs likes to pull them out of stuffing so we can spread the stuff around without the silly plastic thing getting in our way. Remember — ONE FIRM CHOMP and you’ve got it! Don’t be scared. Just CHOMP.
Happy Holidays,
Duke The Dogge

I wish you could come over and kill the awful squeakers for me. Dad has to take them out before I will play with any new toys. You and Gibbs sound like dogs I would love to play with. Happy Christmas, Dot. bow wow

Clever idea for a Santa letter. And, I’m sure that are many dogs, including my Archie, that don’t like two wear any dog outfits or head bands. But he sure loves those squeaky toys. Merry Christmas!

Thanks! Not sure why but those squeaky toys scare me. Thankfully dad knows how to get rid of the squeak. He´s my hero. Dot

I hope Dot gets lots of bones and a bunch of stuffed animals. Chasing cats is kind of understandable – they can be kind of annoying to dogs. Merry Christmas!

Dogs and children go hand in hand. And when your children and grandchildren are far away, a dog is great company.

I have a big dot on my back so they thought it would be a good name for me. When mom and dad picked me up and took me to my forever home they decided to keep my name (and me!).

Lovely to meet Dot had read about her Christmas wishes, Ani. Father Christmas certainly can’t come down our chimney – we hardly have one here in South Africa as it is so hot.

We don’t have one at all here 😦 But she says he’ll find a way….

I love my fireplace and sleep in front of it on a chilly night but I hope the big guy doesn’t try to come down the chimney or I’ll have to bark at him.

Wonderful letters! Ani – I don’t blame you a bit. My (now angel) dog Henry was mortified when we tried to dress him up for Santa. He made ‘mince meat’ out of the bell color we placed around his neck. Spot – you deserve everything you ask Santa for. Lots of stuffed toys to destroy – with no squeaker inside. Henry asked for the exact same thing every Christmas.
Thanks for the warm-hearted fun, Sue and Darlene! xoxox

It has been fun! Thanks to Sue for posting Dot’s letter. Not sure why but Dot won’t have anything to do with a squeaky toy, in fact, makes a wide berth. So Santa has to do surgery on each toy with a squeak in it!

My grand dog is scared of squeaky toys too. Must be their sensitive ears!

Dot, you’re a dog after my own heart! You know your mind and aren’t afraid to speak it (at least not to Santa 🙂 ) I hope you get the toys you prefer and lots of bones to chew on. And Ani, you’re a dynamite host and deserve to get everything you want (even if Sue puts the kibosh on it 🙂 ) Merry Christmas Ani, Sue, Dot, and Darlene! ❤❤❤❤

Merry Christmas, Tina. You are my sort of person, kind to dogs and humans. Santa will be here soon. Apparently, I´ll be needing a bath before he comes. Not sure I like that. But if it gets me a new toy or bone, I guess I´ll put up with it. Dot bow wow.
