Photo prompt round-up – Spur – #writephoto

The photo for this week’s prompt was taken in the Jersey Arms, Stoney Middleton, not too far from my home. The cruel shadow caught my eye, both as an image and as a commentary on Man’s relationship with the creatures with whom we share the world.

As always, there were wonderful poems and stories and I would like to thank  everyone who took part. I didn’t manage to reblog them all this week, but all the posts are listed below.  Please click on the links below to visit the posts and leave a comment for the author! A new prompt will be published later today and I will reblog as many as I can through the week  and all contributions will be featured in the round-up on Thursday.

If you have written a post for this challenge and it does not appear in the round-up, please leave a link to your post in the comments and I will add it to the list.

Come and join in!

Dominion

*
Iron cruelty
Beauty driven not seduced
Serving man’s desire
Noblesse oblige forgotten
‘Do what thou wilt’ the motto
*
Accord dignity
Take not what must be given
Lest gift become theft
Dominion become abuse
Admits no nobility
*

Many thanks to this weeks contributors:

Your poem spotlights how humans do not appreciate our fellow animals at all.

I liked these lines: “Take not what must be given” and “Beauty driven not seduced”. Spurs make me think the horse is more a machine than a friend.
