Adele returns with another encounter with an elusive reality

I will start this story with the well known words, “This is a true story”.

It had been a strange night. My daughter had gone for tea to a friends house and his parents had taken them to the park. It was early dark, winter was settling in so I was worried when they didn’t return at 7pm.

I remember standing at the bedroom window, watching the trees sway, black as treacle against the sky. I was so worried that I asked Anubis to watch over my daughter and keep her safe.

Since I was a child I have always felt a deep connection to Anubis.

My daughter was delivered home safe and sound and we had a lovely chat before bed. She slept with me most nights in those days. She didn’t feel safe when she fell asleep in her room.

She was soon asleep warm and happy. I lay awake.

You can taste fear. It has a sour, metallic aftertaste. I was waiting for the appearance of my ex, my daughter’s father.

I couldn’t read or fall asleep because fear made me wait. I strained my hearing when even the lightest noise came from outside.

He would be drunk, as usual, wake us up, as usual and berate me and my daughter before falling into a drunken stupor leaving us crying and terrified.

Fear ramped up inside me, anger too. Why did he treat us this way? Why was he such a drunkard.

I prayed.

I prayed to Anubis, to the Goddess, to God. I prayed and whispered the words, letting them go free. I prayed for protection.

I must have fallen asleep with those prayers on my lips because my body jolted me awake.

Something glowed in the corner of the room beside the door.

I blinked, curious as to what this was.

The glow became stronger and a shape formed within the glow.

It was a milk white, three headed dog.

Cerberus.

The fear was still asleep and I immediately trusted this vision. It had been sent to protect me and my daughter.

Each head was perfectly formed and like that of a sleek hunting hound. A gold collar was around each graceful neck and although he was milk white, other colours were hinted at within the glow.

I sat up in bed and thank him for being here, no fear at all or disbelief. I had prayed, my prayers had been answered.

I fell asleep, knowing we were safe.

My ex? Strange. He didn’t barge his way into our house that night.

If you have had a strange experience or encounter that you would like to share, please get in touch with me at findme@scvincent.com (or my usual email if you already have it) and we can discuss a guest post.

I am not looking for sensationalism or fictional tales… but in light of the response to some recent posts, I think it would be both useful and reassuring to others to realise that none of us are alone in these strange encounters and experiences and perhaps we can open discussion on what they may be or may mean.

If you would like to share your story but prefer to remain anonymous, we can discuss that too. If you would like to share your beliefs and opinions on the nature of these experiences, I would be happy to talk about a guest post. Through sharing with respect we may learn to understand our world and each other a little better.

  6. Shame, Adele, that is a horrible experience to have presumably night after night. Hopefully your ex went away altogether after that night.
