Photo prompt round-up – Alone #writephoto

The photo for this week’s prompt was taken as a golden sunset filled the sky above the Cow an Calf rocks at Ilkley where we held the Rooted in the Land workshop a couple of years ago. The moors above Ilkley, famous for the song that became Yorkshire’s ‘national anthem‘, are a place I have known and loved since my earliest days. I have wandered them with my great grandfather, my grandparents and my mother and, many years later, with my own sons. We sought out the stone circles and rock carvings, strange symbols and the legends… but the craggy face of Giant Rombald always looked on and the heather always blooms in memory.

If you have written a piece for this week’s challenge and it does not appear below, please leave a link in the comments and I will add it to the list. Pingbacks do not always get through.

There were an incredible number of poems and stories this week and I would like to thank  everyone who took part.  Please click on the links below to visit all the posts and leave a comment for the author! A new prompt will be published later today and I will reblog as many as I can through the week as they come in and all contributions will be featured in the round-up on Thursday.

Come and join in!

Alone

*

Once upon a time
Watching golden mists rising
In my beginning
I saw my future ending
Buried deep in the heather

Walking on giants
Weeping for both joy and loss
Cherished solitude
With widening horizons
Vision became limitless

Home is where I stand
Wild winds playing on my face
Heather in my blood
Wandering the sacred lands
A spirit that never leaves

About Sue Vincent

Sue Vincent was a Yorkshire born writer, esoteric teacher and a Director of The Silent Eye. She was immersed in the Mysteries all her life. Sue maintained a popular blog and is co-author of The Mystical Hexagram with Dr G.M.Vasey. Sue lived in Buckinghamshire, having been stranded there due to an accident with a blindfold, a pin and a map. She had a lasting love-affair with the landscape of Albion, the hidden country of the heart. Sue  passed into spirit at the end of March 2021.

Such a beautiful picture. I can see why so many people took part. It’s so easy to be inspired with the photo 🙂 By the way, they are lovely entries. I’m on holiday with my 4 grandchildren, so my online time is very limited, they’re between 1 and 6 years old. I’ll try to get back into your challenge soon…
