Fast Food

fast food raven (4)I see you, waiting on the corner of everywhere
For opportunity to jump into your pocket
Or come to your call like a servant
To the raising of your hand.
It doesn’t work that way.

Life is not pre-fabricated,
Lukewarm and waiting
To become fast food
To satisfy your hunger.

It is a fruit,
That grows from the fragile centre
Of a flower.

Drinking the sun
That sets a fire at its core;
Cloaked in dawn,
And veiled in eternity.
Bathed in the tears of heaven
It awaits the harvest
And holds the seeds of Eden
That must grow in the heart.

  1. Loved this one Sue. We all have that hunger. Well penned. ☺☺

  2. Bernadette says:

The seeds of Eden in our hearts – I will think about that all day. Enchanting.

  3. Beautiful Sue and so true everything grows slowly and with nature. Loved the cute picture too. Great 👍

  4. Except that secretly, in my heart … I’m there too. My soul wants something fake and delicious and full of chemicals and food grown from glowing jelly fish.

I don’t eat it. First, because it actually doesn’t taste all that good. It really LOOKS good on TV, but it tastes like cardboard. On the rare occasions I eat it — inevitably while traveling when there is literally nothing else to eat (airports have the WORST food on earth) — I’m always shocked at how bad it is. Yet I drool for it anyway.

    Advertising. It’s all ADVERTISING.

  5. Lyn Horner says:

Fast food gives me heartburn, yet I consume it with gusto. So foolish!

  6. This is so true about opportunity – opportunities must be created, they don’t just come to you.

Everything about this poem is beautiful, from its meaning, to its language, even the shape it makes on the screen is like a tree, bridging earth and heaven. Lovely, Sue. Xxx
