Ani’s Advent – the white stuff

ani-snow-5

Morning, Santa!

It’s all white out there today. Not snow, just freezy stuff that sticks to your paws. It’s nice, but she doesn’t approve of me having all the doors open. I think she must be keeping some kind of tally, ’cause she keeps muttering something about ‘minus six’. Still, she was out there at dawn with the camera thingy anyway…in her slippers too.

Does Rudolph like snow? She’s weird with it. Grumbles if she has to scrape the car… which at least you won’t have to do with the reindeer… but as soon as it’s walk time, she’s like a puppy.

I remember how she laughed at me when I found some white stuff as a pup. She said then, ‘just wait till winter comes’… I didn’t know what she meant. What’s a winter? Does it bite, does it play?

Well, I soon found out.

I woke up one morning and everything was different She let me out in the garden…it was still dark, but the world was all white and the stuff had buried my tennis ball! She just laughed and, soon as it was light, took me for a walk.

We went down the lane and through the woods. She saw deer hiding in the bush I missed them… too busy exploring. Well, it was magic!

I went to get a drink at my pond, but the water had all gone hard. She said ‘no’ when I walked on it… but I didn’t listen. Then it went crack and swallowed me!

She just laughed some more. She did come to make sure I could get out though. It’s only knee deep, even in the wet times, which I s’pose, is why she just let me get on with it…and took pictures.

I can’t say I was overly pleased with her though.

She does a lot of laughing when it snows.

She seems to think it is beautiful. I just think it is fun. So, can we have some more please? Not when she has to go somewhere… ’cause she gets grumpy. But when she’s home…and we can play out together for hours?

I did worry about the woods. When we moved, I wondered if he snow would only come there and I’d miss it…but she says it gets everywhere when it wants to, so that’s okay. She says that change doesn’t always mean bad things… or that the good bits are lost. There’s lots of places to play here…but she won’t let me near the new pond. Says its deep and she doesn’t fancy swimming with the carp. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind.ani-snow-3

Anyway, I’m sure you have a lot to do…and I’m supposed to be on pigeon-chasing duty. Ask Rudolph if he’s rather I left him a carrot or an apple. I prefer chicken myself (just in case you have any room in your sack…) but she says Rudolph won’t like it so much.

Much love,

Ani xxx

Hi Ani. What’s this snow stuff? The pond froze and I got caught in the net thing they put over it to stop the leaves. They weren’t happy because it tore. But I’ve not seen snow. And why’d it hide the tennis ball? I’d be very crossed if something tried to hide my ball. The foxes scent them but they leave them where I left them. Is snow like a fox? I mean, c’mon, how are they going to throw it if it’s hidden and that’s the point of the garden, isn’t it? Anyway. If I see snow this year i’ll let you know what i think. Love Mylo

  18. We’ve only had a dusting here so far. But I can sniff it in the wind. We are ready and Bonnie and Gibbs are now in their winter clips, so we are ALL as ready as we can get.
