This week’s photo prompt of the stones at Avebury stone circle drew some wonderfully different entries and I have reblogged as many as possible. Thank you to everyone who took part, read and commented. Please click the links to read any you have missed! If you have written a post for the prompt and it does not appear here, please let me know in the comments so that I can include it here.

As the sun set, he heard it again. Three cycles of the sun he had waited spellbound, while the midsummer grass had grown around him. Listening.
For the third time, he heard it begin… of a deep, slow heartbeat that would last a full cycle of the sun.
Others joined in, each adding their own peculiar note to the thrumming symphony that encircled him.
He dare not breathe, lest he break the spell. His heart slowed to match the rhythm of the song, captured by the music of the heart.
When the sun rose, a new stone had joined the dance…
…and Jane wrote a sequel too!
All great entries! !!

You’d think with something as emotionally charged as a megalith the stories would be pretty similar. But they’re not.

No they aren’t…but everyone has their own idea and the area of myth that draws them.

Beautiful and magical Sue as always. I might be going a little mad but does it look like that stone has a face? KL ❤

You can see the face in the original shot more clearly in the top shot in Stuart’s post… a very definite face 🙂 https://scvincent.com/2016/04/05/sun-day-captured-by-stuart-france-writephoto/ The second shot on the round up is a different stone… most of the Avebury stones have faces.

Thanks Sue, several clicks later I have been through several of Stuart’s posts. 🙂 I do think the hooded stone is incredibly intriguing! It is amazing that they look so different from different angles. Definitely a place I need to add to my bucket list. KL ❤
