The BBC kindly sent over the video files of the interviews with Nick before and after the Para-Tri triathlon. As so many of you who have given him your support and encouragement were unable to see them on the iPlayer and expressed a wish to do so, here they are… in his own words:
The first interview was with reporter Ben Moore and cameraman Trevor Adamson, the second with Nikki Mitchell, both filmed for the news on BBC South Today.
My thanks to Ben, Trevor and Nikki for doing such a great job.
Nick, with Heather and Eva from the Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital, competed yesterday in the first Para-Tri triathlon relay, where teams are comprised of able-bodied and disabled members, the first such event in the country. Nick’s campaign to raise awareness and funds for UKABIF, an organisation focussed on acquired brain injury, has so far reached and amazing £2,537 raised of its £3000 target.
Click here to visit the campaign, which is still open for donations.
I had tears watching your brave son on this interview, Sue. I am humbled by his tenacity. Bravo, Nick. ❤ ❤ ❤

That was wonderful to watch, Sue. He has my total admiration. And on a lighter note, he wasn’t half moving!

He registered 18.4mph top speed, I believe, Richard on his own gadget. We’re still waiting for the official timing, but 20k in 51 minutes doesn’t seem bad for someone who has only been cycling for four weeks 🙂

Good grief!! That’s the same time I run 10k in.

We’ve nothing to compare it to, but it doesn’t seem too bad…

Truly amazing. The body’s capacity to heal, coupled with fighting spirit, can work wonders. Best of luck to you and Nick.

And oddly enough, given the piece you just published, we found one of the clues to that healing in a piece of fiction.

Yay hurray! I’m so proud of him and I don’t even really know him and the actual challenges he’d faced (though I can imagine, to some degree, given what was described of his injury!). Let alone you all who must be so absolutely fantastically proud! This is absolutely fantastic.
Good for him and I hope things continue on a positive path, whatever the journey is — may the hard part be behind you all.
